Easter egg hunts can be stressful!! If your kids are anything like mine, they show no mercy in grabbing as many eggs as they possibly can, sparing no mercy for their younger siblings who may be a little slower. If this is you, I’ve got your back this year!!
Finally, I figured out a fool-proof way to make sure things are FAIR! And it keeps things relatively tear-free, which is a win! So here’s my favorite Easter egg mom hack: the color-coded Easter egg hunt.
Here’s how it works:
ASSIGN EACH KID A COLOR
Before the hunt begins, assign each of your kids a specific color. This could be their favorite color, or you can rotate colors each year to keep things exciting.
PREP THE EGGS
Buy plastic eggs in lots of colors, making sure to have an equal number of eggs for each child. Fill the eggs with goodies like candy, stickers, or small toys.
SET UP THE HUNT
Hide the eggs in your designated hunting area, making sure to scatter them evenly and hide eggs of each color in equal numbers. This ensures that each child has an equal chance of finding eggs in their assigned color. You can even make the eggs for your older kids harder to find so that the difficulty is age-appropriate! Game-changer!
READY, SET, HUNT!
Once everything is set up, let the Easter egg hunt begin! Encourage your kids to search for eggs in their assigned color while respecting the boundaries you've set for the hunt.
ENJOY THE REWARDS
After the hunt is over, gather together to count and compare each child's haul. Your little ones will love seeing that they each found the same number of eggs, all in their chosen color!
Not only does this mom hack make the Easter egg hunt fair and fun for all your kids, but it also adds an extra element of excitement and anticipation. Plus, it's a great way to teach them about sharing and fairness in a playful way.
So this Easter, give the color-coded egg hunt a try and watch as your kids peacefully hunt for eggs together (hopefully!). Happy hunting, moms! 🐣
