Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and as a busy mom, I’m always looking for fun and meaningful ways to make the day special for my little ones. While store-bought cards and candies are nice, there’s something extra special about a handmade gift that shows just how much you care. That's why I absolutely love this DIY Love Lollipop craft — it’s a perfect Valentine for your kids and a creative way to celebrate the season of love.

These Love Lollipops are filled with YumEarth organic lollipops (and a few other goodies if you’d like) and made from clear plastic plates, giving them a totally unique and customizable feel. Whether you're giving them to your kids as a special surprise, including them in a Valentine’s Day gift exchange, or using them as a fun classroom treat, this DIY is guaranteed to bring a smile to your child’s face. Here are some reasons why these DIY Love Lollipops are the BEST Valentine’s Day Gift:

PERSONALIZED & MEANINGFUL

Instead of the typical store-bought cards or generic Valentine’s gifts, these Love Lollipops are completely customizable. You can choose your child’s favorite flavors of YumEarth lollipops, and if you're making them for multiple kids or classmates, you can personalize the look by adding stickers, fun colors, or even special messages to the cellophane bags. Creating something by hand adds a personal touch that shows your child just how much thought you put into their Valentine.

CREATIVE & FUN TO MAKE

One of the best things about this DIY project is how fun it is to do as a family. Kids love getting involved in arts and crafts, and this project allows them to feel like they’ve created something special. Little ones can help fill the "lollipop" with candy, while older kids can assist with tying the ribbons or decorating the plates. It’s an opportunity to bond over something creative, all while making lasting memories that will brighten your Valentine’s Day.

TREAT & CRAFT DUO

Let’s be real — Valentine’s Day is all about sweet treats. But rather than just handing your kids a regular box of candy, why not turn their treats into something fun and interactive? These Love Lollipops are filled with YumEarth organic lollipops (which are free from artificial colors and flavors, so you don’t have to worry about what’s going into your child’s body) and make for a treat your kids can enjoy while they’re making and decorating them. Plus, once they’re done, the lollipops are ready to be gifted, shared, or enjoyed!

GREAT CLASSROOM VALENTINE EXCHANGE IDEA

If you’re looking for a Valentine’s craft that works not only for your own kids but also for their friends or classmates, this is the perfect solution. These DIY Love Lollipops are a great alternative to traditional Valentine’s cards and are something that kids of all ages will love. Fill them with candy, tie a ribbon, and you’ve got a fun and unique classroom Valentine that’s a little different from the usual store-bought ones. Plus, it’s a great way to teach kids the importance of creating something by hand to give to others — it’s the perfect opportunity to show them the value of giving and spreading love.

HOW TO MAKE DIY LOVE LOLLIPOPS

MATERIALS:

  • 2 clear plastic plates

  • YumEarth Organic treats (or another treat your child loves!)

  • Dowel or wooden stick (about 6-8 inches long)

  • Cellophane bags (to wrap the lollipop)

  • Crinkle shredded paper (choose a Valentine’s Day color!)

  • Ribbon (for tying the bag)

  • Hot glue gun & glue sticks (you’ll be using this to assemble the plates and attach the dowel)

  • Optional decorations: Stickers, glitter, or other fun embellishments

  • Scissors (for trimming ribbons and bags)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1: Fill a plate with the crinkle paper and treats
Now comes the fun part: fill the inside of your "lollipop" with YumEarth organic lollipops! If you’re feeling extra creative, you can add other small treats like stickers or temporary tattoos for a special surprise. The possibilities are endless.

Step 2: Lay the dowel on the plate
Take the dowel or wooden stick and lay it on the plate, with most of the dowel sticking out the bottom.

Step 3: Glue the second plate on top of the first
Glue the edges of two clear plastic plates together. Apply hot glue around the rim of one plate, and press the second plate on top, creating a pocket for your treats. Let the glue cool for about a minute to make sure the plates are securely attached. Trim the excess crinkle paper to keep the edges clean!

Step 4: Personalize & Decorate
Get creative! Add stickers, personalized labels, or fun messages to the plate. You can even decorate the outside of the plate with paint or glitter for an extra Valentine’s Day flair. This is where your little ones can really get involved and make each Love Lollipop unique.

Step 5: Add the Cellophane Bag
Place the assembled lollipop into a cellophane bag. Secure the corners of the bag down on the back of the lollipop so that it keeps the round shape. Gather the top of the bag that’s around the dowel and secure it with a ribbon, tying a pretty bow for an extra touch of sweetness.

As a mom, I can’t tell you how much joy it brings me to see my kids’ eyes light up when they get involved in a craft project and when they receive something they helped make. Not only does this craft allow them to express their creativity, but it also reinforces the joy of giving and sharing love — which, after all, is what Valentine’s Day is all about.

So grab your supplies, gather the kids, and get crafting — these Love Lollipops are sure to be a hit with your little ones, and they might just become a new Valentine’s Day tradition in your family.

Happy Valentine’s Day, mamas! 💖🍭
