As a mom, there's nothing more magical than seeing my kids' faces light up with the magic of the holidays. This year, I decided to take it a step further and transform my boys’ room into a candy cane forest. I mean, who wouldn't want to live in a sugary wonderland, right? The best part? It’s all DIY, budget-friendly, and perfect for a mom who wants her kids to feel like they’re walking into the North Pole without spending a fortune.

Here’s how I turned my boys’ room into a sweet, festive space for them to dream in:

TURNING MY HOUSE INTO THE NORTH POLE:
CANDY CANE FOREST

The first thing I did was wrap the doors to their room in the cutest candy cane wrapping paper. It’s a simple touch that immediately adds a festive flair without breaking the bank! Plus, it blends perfectly with their existing room decor, creating a seamless holiday vibe.

I used Scotch double-sided tape to secure the paper, making sure it was snug but easy to remove after the season ends. When I got to the doorknobs, I made a small “X” cut in the paper, so it would wrap around the handle without getting torn. This made it so easy to get a clean, polished look! (Pro tip: Wrapping the door took less than 15 minutes and instantly turned their room into a festive escape.)

Once the door was done, it was time to get creative with the walls. I grabbed some large candy cane decorations, which I hung on the walls to give the room a whimsical feel. They’re bold enough to make a statement, yet playful enough to keep it fun for the boys.

To finish off the walls, I added a candy cane garland around the top border of the room, right along the ceiling. I found the garland at Hobby Lobby, and it’s so swoopy and dreamy, making the whole space feel like you’ve stepped into a magical candy forest.I used Command hooks to secure the garland along the ceiling. This way, I don’t have to worry about damaging the walls, and the hooks are strong enough to hold the garland without slipping.

I added a candy cane blanket to each bed for the finishing festive touch, and this room is well on its way to being a real candy cane forest!

What’s a candy cane forest without a tree? I couldn’t resist putting a cute little tree in their room! I opted for a small, full-shaped tree to fit the space, and it’s decked out in red and white candy-themed decorations. There are so many adorable red and white ornaments at Target this year that it was hard to choose! From peppermint swirl ornaments to candy-shaped baubles, it’s like decorating the tree with a collection of sweet treats. I kept the decorations simple and let the candy cane colors shine through. The tree was the finishing touch that really made the room come alive—now it’s a complete holiday wonderland!

Transforming my boys' room into a candy cane forest was such a fun, easy DIY project that added so much holiday magic to their space. It’s the perfect way to make the season extra special, and the best part is that they absolutely love it! If you're a mom looking to get your kids excited about the holidays without spending a ton, this is such a great way to do it. It’s simple, sweet, and makes a big impact. Merry Christmas, everyone! 🎄✨
